UPDATE FROM BRAZIL ON TEAM SA
UPDATE FROM BRAZIL ON TEAM SA MASTERS
In the past 2 days of competition, South Africa added approx. 30+ medals to their already 40+ medals to date, after the 400m, 1500m and weight pentathlon events. The last addition included 17 Gold, 9 Silvers and 7 Bronze, which may bring the total up to a record breaking 70+ medals ! Hopefully there might be 2 or more after the half marathon and marathon events, which took place today.
A special mention must be given to Lucas Nel (M90-94) of KZN who won 5 gold medals in 100,200,400,800, 1500 and just missed out on the world record (1.35,04)in the 400m with a time of 1.35,64, “Dit wil gedoen wees Lucas”.
AND TO
Borge Stannius (M85-89)of GN, who won 5 gold in the shotput, discus, javelin, hammerthrow, weight throw PLUS weight pentathlon event (includes the 5 field events), in other words he competed in each event twice! You’re both an inspiration to us all
