MASTERS JUMPERS AND THROWERS AIM FOR NUMEROUS PB’s, MEDALS AND TITLES AT THE 20 TH WORLD MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PORTO ALEGRA, BRAZIL FROM 16 – 27 OCTOBER 2013. In the jump events, 8 men and ladies' athletes will be competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump at the world championships.  Their best ever performances and rankings going into the championships could produce PB's, medals and even titles for South Africa. High Jump M 40-44                Johan Mans        1.84   ranked 2 nd in the entries. M80-84                 Leo Benning       ranked 1st Long Jump and Triple Jump Vincent McBride (50-54) well known as a Triple jumper during the ‘80s makes a welcome return to athletics and will be competing in the Men’s long jump and triple jump.   He holds the age group record in the triple jump with 12.21m.   In his prime Vincent won the SA Senior and SA U.21 titles

MASTERS SPRINTERS AND HURDLERS GEAR UP FOR BRAZIL ! 13 Male and 11 female sprinters & hurdlers will make up part of the team from SA who are gearing up for the 20th World Masters Athletics Championships in Port Alegra, Brazil to be held from 16 - 27 October 2013  https://wma2013.com/en/  .  This will be the first time the championships are held on the South American Continent. ADRI SCHOEMAN (past Olympian 1992) going into her first world masters champs with best times of 11,90 and 24,3, will be one of the main contenders for the sprint titles in the (W.40-44) age group.  In 2012 she was ranked 2 nd in the 100m with a time of 11,95 behind Chandra Sturrup of the Bahamas who at the time was still competing in the elite competitions but was not an officially registered masters athlete.   In 2012 Adri was at the top of the rankings with a time of 24,46.  In the 45-49 age group WINNIE DE WINNAAR has the best time on paper with 12,80 and 26,3.  She has always just

MASTERS ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT THE WORLD MASTERS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS ( https://wma2013.com/en/ )  IN BRAZIL (16 – 27 OCTOBER 2013) One of the biggest contingents of masters athletes ever to compete at a world championships (16 – 27 October in Porto Alegra, Brazil) will be leaving for Brazil in a few weeks time.   The contingent will consist of +- 60 competitors, plus some partners and supporters.   The athletes are men and women aged between 35 – 90 years  who will compete in a total of more than 200 events. (including three 80+ year olds and one 90 year old) ! (Lucas Nel (90) former Springbok Cross Country Athlete in his youth and still going strong !)
